An altercation in Luxembourg City escalated into a cross-border police chase on Friday, ending in Belgium where the fleeing suspect crashed and was apprehended.
On Friday morning around 10am, police were called to the scene of an altercation on Route de Thionville in Luxembourg City. One of the individuals involved fled the scene in a vehicle moments before officers arrived.
Shortly afterward, a police patrol spotted the car near Salzhaff, but the driver refused to stop. A pursuit ensued along the A6 motorway toward the Belgian border.
In accordance with the Benelux agreement, Luxembourg police continued the chase into Belgium. The pursuit came to an end near Messancy, where the fleeing vehicle was involved in a crash. With the assistance of Belgian authorities, the driver was arrested at the scene. He sustained injuries in the accident and was treated by paramedics.
