Two Minnesota state lawmakers were shot in their homes Saturday by an individual believed to be impersonating a police officer, multiple news outlets reported.
Sources told the news outlets they are state Sen. John Hoffman and state Rep. Melissa Hortman. Both are Democrats from communities near Minneapolis.
Police say the two are in grave condition and a manhunt is underway for the suspect, the news outlets reported.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz posted to X Saturday that the lawmkers were victims of “targeted shootings” and said he had activated the state emergency operations center.

The suspect is a white man with brown hair wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants, according to an alert sent out by law enforcement.
