Armed fugitive arrested after biting, attempting to gouge Lebanon officer's eye, police say
An armed fugitive was arrested after biting and attempting to gouge a New Hampshire police officer's eye, authorities said.
Lebanon Police said before 8 p.m. Thursday, they got a report of a wanted man seen at the Walmart.
The man, Joshua Champney, 35, of Enfield, had multiple outstanding warrants for resisting arrest, parole violation, and was out on bail for felon in possession of a dangerous weapon and driving under the influence, police said.
As Champney was being placed under arrest, there was a physical altercation and he attempted to escape on foot through the parking lot and then there was a foot pursuit, police said.

A taser was deployed but Champney continued to resist and during a struggle, he bit the officer and attempted to gouge the officer's eyes with his thumbs, police said.
Champney was eventually placed under arrest and during a search of his belongings, he was in possession of a gun, which was stolen from a home in Lebanon, police said.
The officer was injured during the incident and was treated and released from the hospital, police said.

Champney was charged with armed career criminal, two counts of simple assault, breach of bail, burglary and receiving stolen property, felon in possession of a dangerous weapon, two counts of resisting arrest and second-degree assault, police said.
