Moses T.U. Sartee

The Liberia National Police is seeking this man, Moses T.U. Sartee, in connection with the alleged theft of US$15,000 from a local businessman in Pleebo.

A local businessman in Pleebo is reeling after allegedly losing US$15,000 to an employee he once trusted to manage his foreign exchange operations.

Hope Blar, a well-known business figure in the area, says the suspected theft was carried out by Moses TU Sartee, one of his closest employees who had direct oversight of his money exchange business in Pleebo City. According to Blar, Sartee disappeared mysteriously on Sunday evening, June 8—the very day he was due to submit his weekly financial report.

"This is someone I trusted with my entire business. He was responsible for handling both cash and mobile money, and every Sunday he was expected to report to me with all the details," Blar told reporters. “But last Sunday, he didn’t show up. I gave him until Monday thinking maybe something came up, but I haven’t seen or heard from him since. He vanished with everything.”

Blar explained that Sartee had access not only to thousands of U.S. dollars in cash but also to critical financial data stored on his personal phone. “With the finances in his possession and the commissions and transactions stored on his phone, this boy escaped. I feel completely betrayed,” he said.

He described the loss as a severe financial blow, stating, “This is my only business money. I don’t have any backup. It’s my last hope. I just want my money back—I’m not looking for revenge or anything else.”

Following a formal complaint filed with the Maryland County Detachment of the Liberia National Police, a manhunt has been launched to locate and apprehend Sartee. Police have issued a call for public assistance in tracking down the suspect.

Residents of Zone 2, where Sartee lived, confirmed that he has not been seen in the community since Sunday. The sudden disappearance and the scale of the alleged theft have sparked outrage and sympathy from the local population.

“This is a big loss to one of our local hustlers who has been trying to build himself,” said Emmanuel Dolo, a resident of Pleebo. “We pray the police find the guy and bring justice to Mr. Blar.”

The incident has triggered a wave of reaction on social media, with many Maryland County residents calling for tighter employee vetting and stronger business monitoring practices to avoid similar situations.

Meanwhile, Blar is urging the public to help locate Sartee. “Please, if anyone sees him or knows where he might be hiding, help me. I’m not out to hurt him. I just want to recover what’s mine.”

The Liberia National Police is encouraging anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Moses TU Sartee to contact the nearest police station or call the following numbers: 0881356637, 0770615581, 0886614702, or 0776931414.

As the investigation continues, the case serves as a sobering reminder to small business owners about the risks of internal theft and the importance of financial accountability—even within trusted circles.
