Firefighters use 160k gallons of water to control Janesville landfill fire

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) - Firefighters doused a fire at the Janesville Landfill with 160,000 gallons of water to put it out over the weekend, Janesville Fire Department reported Sunday.
JFD responded just after 3 a.m. Sunday to the landfill, on Black Bridge Road, and found one acre of the landfill on fire.
Two dozen firefighters worked to fight the flames.
JFD is still determining the cause of the fire. No one was hurt.
Off-duty Janesville firefighters helped in the response, as well as firefighters from Lakeside, Evansville and Footville. Janesville Police Department and City Landfill staff also assisted.
