Denied Ambulance, Maharashtra Man Carries Newborn’s Body In Bag Over 90 km

Kavar’s wife was allegedly made to wait for an hour after reaching the PHC, after which she was referred to Mokhada Civil Hospital.

After being denied a medical ambulance, a man travelled 90 kilometres in a bus carrying his newborn’s body in a carry bag. The incident reportedly took place in Maharashtra’s Nashik civil hospital.

‘I lost my child due to the negligence’

According to PTI, the tribal man, Sakharam Kavar, lost his newborn daughter. “I lost my child due to the negligence and apathy of the health system,” the news agency quoted him as saying. 

Kavar said that his wife went into labour in Khodala PHC on June 11. He said his 26-year-old wife was expecting their third child and he called an ambulance, but did not get any response. He also tried Asha workers but they were unavailable. He called on 108 but did not get any response. Later, he arranged a private vehicle and took her wife to  Khodala Public Health Centre.

Kavar’s wife was allegedly made to wait for an hour after reaching the PHC, after which she was referred to Mokhada Civil Hospital. Doctors of Mokhada Civil Hospital advised him to take his wife to Nashik Civil Hospital after they did not record the heartbeat of the fetus. 

An ambulance was managed from Aase village who took his wife to Nashik civil hospital in the late evening. Kavar’s wife delivered a stillborn baby on June 12.

MP: 25-yr-old man sets himself on fire

In another incident, a 25-year-old man set himself on fire reportedly after being troubled by his lover in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district and succumbed to the burn injuries, a police officer said on Monday.

The man has been identified as Ajay Kushwaha, a resident of Sikandar Kampoo locality, and he was in a relationship with the woman for the last nine years. He was allegedly troubled by the woman, particularly over financial matters, following which, the man set himself on fire in front of the woman’s house on the night of June 13, the police said.
