Topaz Lake has reopened to the public after a temporary closure to support aerial firefighting efforts for the Conner Fire.
While the lake is now accessible for recreational activities, officials have advised that aircraft may still be drawing water from the lake. Residents and visitors are urged to remain vigilant and avoid interfering with ongoing firefighting operations.
Douglas County expressed gratitude to the community for its cooperation during the critical wildfire response and urged continued caution and respect for emergency operations still underway.
The fire, burning southeast of Gardnerville, has torched 17,700 acres and is 19% contained as of Monday morning.
