Brit found dead on beach sun lounger in Greece by horrified tourists
The 73-year-old man was found dead by fellow holidaymakers during a trip to Agia Paraskevi, Skiathos, Greece. A lifeguard was alerted, but despite best efforts he could not be saved
A British holidaymaker was tragically found dead on a sun lounger as he soaked up the sun on a Greek beach.
He was on the sandy shores of Agia Paraskevi, Skiathos, when he was spotted by fellow tourists, and despite the lifeguard being quickly alerted and a medic trying to revive him for 40 minutes he was pronounced dead.
The UK Foreign Office has confirmed the heart-wrenching incident involving the man, whose identity remains undisclosed. A spokesperson from the office remarked: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities."

The circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery, with an autopsy already underway. This marks the second Briton dying on Greek sands this month.
Another Brit aged 68 sadly died after a swim turned fatal on June 12. Responding to emergency calls, Central Port Authority officials rushed to Rhodes' Lindos beach, only for the individual to be declared dead at Archangelos health centre.
This follows the recent death of another Brit in Spain, presumed to have drowned after facing difficulty in evening waters off Fuengirola's renowned resort. Despite desperate attempts by eyewitnesses and subsequent rescue by police, his life could not be salvaged, and he was pronounced dead on arrival by emergency services, reports the Mirror.
A spokesperson for a local emergency response coordination centre confirmed the harrowing incident: "A man died yesterday evening at a beach in Fuengirola. Emergency responders received the first of several calls around 9.10pm, saying a man was drowning in the sea off Fuengirola's seafront."
The statement continued detailing the tragedy, "According to the callers he was about 60 metres out and was having difficulties getting out of the water. National and local police were mobilised along with coastguards and paramedics.
"Two members of the public were able to get the man out of the water but despite the efforts of the emergency responders to save his life, there was nothing they could do to revive him. He was pronounced dead on the beach before he could be taken to hospital."
The area has witnessed earlier tragedies, reminding locals of the dangers of the sea. Back in April, an Irish tourist met a similar fate on a neighbouring Costa del Sol beach amidst Spain's historic blackout. The victim, Darren Pilson, 53, from Howth, Co Dublin, faced fatal difficulties in the waters off La Carihuela near Torremolinos, which tragically resulted in his drowning.
