Two People Medically Evacuated To Bermuda

Bermuda Maritime Operations coordinated two separate medical evacuations for crew members from passing commercial vessels, with both seafarers safely transferred to local hospital facilities for treatment.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Tuesday 10th June 2025 2:24pm – Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received a Satellite Telephone call from the captain onboard the Maltese Registered 149,210grt Container Ship M/V Theseus, advising they wished to divert to Bermuda, to transfer a Filipino crew member who had suffered a suspected broken leg following an injury onboard, which required attention at a local Hospital Facility. The vessel was on passage from Baltimore, USA bound for Port Klang, Malaysia. The vessel arrived offshore in Bermuda Waters on Wednesday 11th June at 07:00am, the 46-year-old Filipino Crew Member was safely transferred to Ordnance Island by the Pilot/Rescue Boat St David, and subsequently taken by ambulance to KEMH for medical treatment.

“Thursday 12th June 2025 4:55pm – Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre received notification from local ships agents Meyers, advising that the captain onboard the Bahama Registered 7,944grt Reefer Ship M/V Peruvian Reefer, advising they were to diverting to Bermuda, to transfer a Filipino crew member who was suffering from a medical condition, which required attention at a local Hospital Facility. The vessel was on passage from Flushing in The Netherlands and bound for Fernandina, Florida. The vessel arrived offshore in Bermuda Waters on Friday 13th June at 11:00am, the 58-year-old Filipino Crew Member was safely transferred to Ordnance Island by the Pilot/Rescue Boat St David, and subsequently taken by ambulance to KEMH for medical treatment.”
