SAGINAW, MI — Pulled over while allegedly riding with stolen guns and suspected crack cocaine, two Saginaw men are facing a combined 12 criminal charges. The woman who was driving, though, is not currently charged alongside them.
Demario D. Lindsey, 35, and Dequevion D. Haynes, 32, on Wednesday, June 25, appeared before Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank for arraignment.
Haynes is charged with four counts of felony firearm and single counts of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, converting a semiautomatic firearm to fully automatic, carrying a concealed weapon, and possessing fewer than 25 grams of a narcotic or cocaine. Lindsey is charged with single counts of felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.
A felony firearm conviction mandates a minimum two-year prison sentence consecutive with any related stint. The other firearm-related charges are all five-year felonies, while the drug possession count is punishable by up to four years in prison.
The duo’s charges stem from a traffic stop Michigan State Police troopers conducted about 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, after they saw a speeding vehicle run a red light. Troopers stopped the vehicle on Rust Avenue/M-46 near South Washington Avenue.

Troopers approached the vehicle to speak with its 28-year-old female driver and saw a pistol next to her. Troopers removed the car’s four occupants and found two loaded pistol magazines and a bag of suspected crack cocaine in Haynes’ pockets, prosecutors allege.
Near Haynes’ feet, troopers found a pistol outfitted with an auto sear that converted it to fully automatic, prosecutors allege. Troopers found a third pistol near Lindsey’s feet.
All three guns had been reported stolen. Police arrested Haynes, Lindsey, and the woman driver, along with a 33-year-old woman passenger who was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Haynes and Lindsey have numerous felony convictions on their records, prohibiting them from possessing guns.
Appearing at the Wednesday arraignment on the duo’s behalf, attorney Keri Turner described both men as lifelong Saginaw residents. She said Haynes has part-time employment and six children, while Lindsey receives disability payments and has 13 children. She asked the judge to set reasonable bonds.
Citing concern for public safety, Frank set both men’s bond at $75,000 cash-surety. He scheduled the pair to appear for a preliminary examination at 9:15 a.m. on July 9.
