BROOKVILLE, Ohio (WKEF) -- The victim killed in a deadly crash on I-70 has been identified.
According to the Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-70 westbound just past the Arlington Road exit in Brookville just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. The crash caused all westbound lanes to be closed for nearly three hours.
The preliminary investigation found that 29-year-old Lavan Stark of Dayton was attempting to make a left turn from the right lane of I-70 to access the emergency vehicle crossover in the center median. That's when his vehicle was hit by a commercial truck driven by 52-year-old Daniel Vandaniker of West Virginia. The truck then hit the trailer of a second commercial truck in the right lane, driven by 30-year-old Mauro Guevara of California.
Lavan Stark was pronounced dead at the scene by Brookville Fire and EMS. The highway was reopened at 5:01 p.m.
OSHP, the Ohio Department of Transportation, the City of Brookville Police Department, Brookville Fire and EMS, Englewood Towing, and the Montgomery County Coroner's Office all responded.
The crash is still under investigation by the Dayton Post of OSHP.
