Another life lost in the Punaluu collision brings Oahu's traffic fatalities to 39 this year.
PUNALUU, Hawaii (Island News) – The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that another one of the passengers involved in the deadly collision on Punaluu, has died.
On Wednesday, June 25, the Honolulu Police Department, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, was notified that the 28-year-old woman had succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner identified the woman as 28-year-old Anela Yuen. She was previously reported to be in critical condition.
Yuen was a passenger in a vehicle with three other women when they collided head-on with a 17-year-old driver on Kamehameha Highway on Tuesday night, June 17.

19-year-old Miyanna Haiola and 28-year-old Katrell Plunkett were pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle received minor injuries and was taken in good condition.
The last surviving passenger of the vehicle, a 19-year-old woman, was last reported to be in critical condition.
This makes Oahu’s 39th traffic fatality this year, as compared to 15 at the same time in 2024.
The investigation remains ongoing.
