MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - More businesses in the Magic City are following the law when it comes to tobacco sales, that’s according to a recent compliance check.

Minot Police said they conducted random checks at 51 businesses to see if they were properly checking IDs to prevent sales to minors.

According to a release from the city, officers found three establishments in violation. Two of those received their second offense within the past year.

But this marks a significant decrease compared to our January report, when 13 out of 41 businesses were cited for violations.

A second offense results in a seven-day tobacco license suspension.

The legal age to purchase tobacco products in North Dakota is 21 years old.
