Jellyfish warnings have been issued by several southern Maine communities along the coast so safety may be top of mind when headed to the beach.

Ogunquit's fire chief says about six people have been stung in the past week alone.

The town says there’s been an increase in both lion’s mane and moon jellyfish in the area.

A lion’s mane jellyfish was also spotted in South Portland over the weekend at Willard Beach.
