The body of a boy has been discovered by teams searching the River Tees for missing schoolboy Mylo Capilla.

A comprehensive emergency services operation was launched at Ramsey Gardens, in Ingleby Barwick, from 9pm on Thursday evening, June 26, when the 13 year old failed to return home. Following round-the-clock searches by multiple agencies, a boy's body has been found by crews combing the water. Mylo's parents have been informed.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police stated: "Very sadly, police and partner agencies searching the river for 13-year-old Mylo Capilla at Ingleby Barwick have found the body of a boy. Whilst formal identification has yet to take place, Mylo's parents have been informed and they continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

"All our thoughts are with Mylo's family and friends as well as with the wider community at this extremely difficult time.", reports Teesside Live.

Police, the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, Cleveland Fire Brigade, the Water Rescue Unit, and North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) paramedics descended on the housing estate when his disappearance was reported. Police dogs were also deployed onto The Muddies, close to where Mylo was last seen, and where his bike, coat and iPhone were discovered.

The police helicopter and drones took to the skies, while the RAF was also summoned. Scores of worried locals pitched in with the search efforts, with the police advising them to steer clear of the River Tees and instead focus on the estate's streets and surrounding areas.

Mylo's father, Dan Capilla, a design engineer, had previously spoken of his son as "a really loving, caring boy". Dan said: "He's always happy and wants to make people laugh. He would never just go missing or hide - this is completely out of character."
