Burke County Deputy Sideswipes Bicyclist

The nature of the crash is still under investigation.

BOWBELLS, N.D. (KVRR) – A 65-year-old female bicyclist was seriously injured after being sideswiped by a Burke County Deputy.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a Burke County Deputy was driving a marked patrol car south on Highway 8 near mile marker 193, three miles south of Bowbells, on Friday, June 27.

Just after 3:00 P.M., the deputy moved to the left and struck a bicyclist riding south on the fog line on Highway 8.

The 65-year-old woman was gravely injured and transported to Trinity Health, Minot by the Bowbells Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
