Major East Lothian road closed and motorists warned of delays after incident

A vehicle fire on the A1 in East Lothian saw drivers warned of potential delays and lane closures on Sunday afternoon, with police and fire crews called to the scene.

East Lothian drivers have been warned of delays after a vehicle fire.

The incident saw the A1 between Gladsmuir and Haddignton was closed amid the inicdent. Police and fire crews were called to the scene.

The condition of those involved is not currently known. Traffic Scotland said: "Gladsmuir - Haddington (S/B)

"Road temporarily CLOSED due a vehicle fire. Police and Fire services are attending the scene.

"Please use an alternative route and expect longer journey times. Further updates to come."

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.

Elsewhere in the area, queues were building on the Edinburgh Bypass. From around 2pm, two lanes were restricted eastbound between Gilmerton Junction and Sheriffhall Roundabout.
