A man has been arrested after he was caught trying to illegally ship guns and ammunition from Miami to Haiti, authorities said.
Williamson Dossous, 50, was arrested Sunday before he could board a flight to Haiti in South Florida, according to an affidavit.

The arrest followed a months-long investigation by Homeland Security Investigations in Miami.
According to the affidavit, on Jan. 16, U.S. Customs and Border Protection conducted an inspection of a cargo container that was awaiting departure from PortMiami to Cap-Haitien in Haiti.

An X-ray detected an anomaly within bundles of clothing, and a closer inspection found multiple firearms, ammunition and accessories wrapped in aluminum foil among the clothing.
In all, there were 10 pistols, 18 pistol magazines, and over 2,200 rounds of ammunition, the affidavit said.
Dossous was listed as the shipper of the container and the contents of the shipment were described as "lot of used household goods & personal effects," the affidavit said.

Dossous was interviewed by law enforcement last month and said he's been shipping containers to Haiti for over 20 years and wasn't aware any recent shipments had contained guns or ammo, the affidavit said.
But investigators linked the guns to Dossous' son, friend and a patient at a chiropractic center where Dossous was listed as the corporate secretary, the affidavit said.
Authorities also obtained a recorded phone call in which Dossous discussed the guns.
"They going to get my fingerprints on them because I touched them…because I was there when he was doing the stuff…I know about the guns, I touched the guns," he said, according to the affidavit.
Dossous was arrested on Sunday before he could board a flight to Haiti and after he was taken into custody, he made a spontaneous statement to authorities.
"I know my prints are going to be on the guns because I touched them. I'm not going to lie about that," he allegedly said.
Dossous is facing charges of smuggling of goods from the United States, delivery of firearms and ammunition to common carrier without notice.
