HARTINGTON — Two juveniles from South Dakota were recently arrested and released into parental custody after allegedly breaking in to six vehicles throughout Randolph. Randolph Police Chief Gary Umberger said the subjects were observed by a local resident at 4 a.m. July 14 and were later apprehended by authorities and taken to the Cedar County Jail.

RANDOLPH — The 18 & Under softball team prevailed over Pierce in a 7-4 victory. Erin Bazata was the first on the mound firing off pitches, striking seven out.

RANDOLPH — T-ballers played some excellent defense in a game against Wausa with the final score being 18-9 with Randolph on top. Elle Bermel, Haley Schnoor and Lakyn McCarter all scored three runs on the July 1 game.

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Community Fair culminated with the presentation of community awards Sunday evening.
Good Neighbor of the Year went to Peggy Leiting. Employee of the Year went to Barb Burbach. This year two families received the Farm Family of the Year, they are Paul and Corinne Schmit family and Ron and Joan Korth.

HASTINGS —Randolph’s 18 and under softball team traveled to Hastings for State Softball action. In game one Randolph met up with Gering, the Cards fell 6-4. The second match Randolph was paired up with Lincoln Blaze. Vanessa Schmit was on the mound to take care of the pitching, and although a strong defense was put up, the Cards fell short again, 4-5.
“The two losses were pretty tough to swallow, both came in the bottom of the seventh inning,” said Coach Stacey Scott.

RANDOLPH — The Randolph Saddle Club held their Annual Horse Show on Sunday, July 10, at the Logan Valley Corral at Randolph. Approximately 125 riders participated in the days events.

RANDOLPH — Local Girl Scout Troops host a “Garden Walk” as a fundraiser for new camping equipment.
The “Garden Walk” was attended by 30 participants who were able to enjoy 10 area gardens. True Value of Randolph donated plants to those who donated their yards for the tour. Julie Pfanstiel was pleased with the turn out and the learning experience the scouts got seeing the different types of plants and landscaping.
