MSC World America Is Sailing Now From Miami With an Overwater Swing, an Eataly, and 20 Pools
You may recognize MSC World America from those high-energy ads starring Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom. It’s already sailing from Miami, and it’s hard to miss. Towering 20 decks above the waterline and packed with attractions from bow to stern, MSC World America is MSC Cruises’ largest and most ambitious ship to date. Since its debut, the ship has been cruising weeklong itineraries to the Caribbean and Bahamas, calling on ports like Cozumel, Roatán, San Juan, and Ocean Cay — the line’s private marine reserve in The Bahamas. Here’s what you need to know about it.
With more than 2,600 staterooms, seven themed “districts,” and a long list of dining, nightlife, and family-friendly experiences, MSC World America is positioning itself as a full-fledged resort at sea — one that blends MSC’s signature European flair with the scale and variety more familiar to American cruisers.
It’s All in the Layout
MSC World America is laid out as a series of distinct neighborhoods. The Family Aventura District caters to younger travelers with splash zones, climbing structures, and The Harbour — an open-air activity park with the only overwater swing ride at sea. At the opposite end of the ship, the Zen Area provides an adults-only escape, with infinity-style pools, quiet decks, and oceanfront lounging.
There’s also the World Promenade, an open-air stretch with nightly light shows, and the World Galleria, an enclosed promenade with cocktail bars, designer shops, and a giant LED ceiling displaying digital art. At the top tier is the MSC Yacht Club, a ship-within-a-ship concept with private dining, a separate pool deck, butler service, and reserved suite accommodations.
An Overwater Swing and an 11-Deck Slide
MSC World America is designed to be as much about the journey as the destination. Cliffhanger, the ship’s signature attraction, is a swing ride that arcs out over open sea. Jaw Drop, an 11-deck dry slide, spirals dramatically through the ship’s core. There’s also a suspended ropes course, bumper cars, a sports arena, and Doremiland, MSC’s largest-ever kids’ zone, with VR games, LEGO playrooms, and chill-out lounges for teens.
For a slower pace, the MSC Aurea Spa offers a full thermal suite, a Balinese massage menu, and expansive ocean-view treatment rooms.
Dining Across 19 Venues
Food on MSC World America ranges from casual comfort fare to globally inspired menus. Eataly at Sea, exclusive to MSC, serves handmade pastas and regional Italian specialties. Hola! Tacos & Cantina brings bold Latin flavors in a casual setting. Kaito Teppanyaki and Kaito Sushi offer live cooking and fresh sashimi, while Butcher’s Cut focuses on dry-aged steaks and bourbon-forward cocktails.
Casual options include Luna Park Pizza & Burger, Promenade Bites for quick snacks, and the sweeping Il Mercato Buffet, with stations spanning global cuisines.
When the Sun Goes Down
In the evening, MSC World America shifts gears. Guests can take in a series of original productions like Odyssey, a cirque-style acrobatics show; Queen Symphonic, a rock-and-orchestra performance; and Dirty Dancing in Concert, a live musical that mirrors the classic film. Smaller venues like The Loft host dueling pianos, karaoke, and stand-up acts. Themed parties range from the neon-heavy Miami Nights to the ski-themed Après.
Bar options are equally varied. Gin Project serves over 70 styles of gin. Fizz Champagne Bar pours sparkling from Italy and France. And Masters of the Sea is a full-service pub featuring house-brewed beer made with recycled seawater.
Where It’s Going
MSC World America is currently sailing a mix of Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean itineraries from Miami. Ports include San Juan, Puerto Plata, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Roatán, and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. All cruises are seven nights, with pricing starting under $700 per person including taxes and fees.
For travelers looking for a new way to cruise the Caribbean — especially those craving more variety and less repetition — MSC World America is already delivering something different.
What It Costs to Sail MSC World America
A sample seven-night cruise that includes stops at Ocean Cay, Puerto Plata and San Juan starts at $665 per person, with the best price on a late September cruise. Now, if you want to do the drink and Wi-Fi package, which we tend to recommend, it starts at $1,057 per person. You’ll end up saving in the long run, especially on a seven-nighter. Those prices are for an interior state room. For a balcony room with the drink and wi-fi package, you’re looking at somewhere around $1,387 per room.
