Nine people have been charged in connection with a fraud ring in Buncombe County, North Carolina, according to deputies.On Wednesday, the five-month-long investigation led detectives with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office to Angela Queen and Wesley McCrary, who were allegedly running the fraud ring.Seven others involved have also been charged. According to deputies, the operation involved checks that were stolen from the mail, washed, and retyped on a typewriter or stamped with one of the suspect's names. Authorities said community members and businesses were among the victims. Detectives also recovered a large amount of checks, stolen mail, and credit cards.The U.S. Marshals Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Queen and McCrary on June 4 in Marion.   • 5 counts of obtain property by false pretense
  • 5 counts of uttering a forged instrument
  • 4 counts of misdemeanor larceny
  • 22 counts of identity theft
  • 7 counts of financial card theft
