Pasco police stolen vehicle arrest

PASCO, Wash. – A Kennewick man is in jail Wednesday after allegedly stealing a car and leading Pasco police on a chase that went all the way to Touchet before State Patrol troopers used a spike strip to stop him, Pasco police said.

According to the Pasco Police Department, at about 8:50 p.m. on July 15, Pasco police got a call from Kennewick Police Department saying a suspect had just stolen a car and was driving the stolen vehicle over the Blue Bridge into Pasco. Pasco police said the real owners of the car were tracking it, and had found the car parked in a parking lot. However, police said that when the owners walked up to the car, the suspect drove away, striking one of the owners with the vehicle. The owner was not seriously injured, police said.

Pasco police said two officers spotted the vehicle leaving the scene and tried to pull it over. However, the vehicle sped off again, and police gave chase eastbound on Highway 12. Pasco police said the pursuit ended near the town of Touchet when troopers from Washington State Patrol used spike strips to puncture the tires of the vehicle.

Pasco police said they eventually stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, identified as Jake Long, 31, of Kennewick. Police said he was sent to the Franklin County Jail for first-degree assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, and eluding the police.
