Sherman Parks and Recreation gives retired ambulance fun makeover
SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - One of Sherman Fire-Rescue’s emergency response vehicle was given an unconventional makeover after retirement.
“This is our POP truck,” said recreation coordinator Dylan Johnson of Sherman Parks and Recreation. “It stands for portable outdoor play. Just the essence of what it is intended for is to bring additional play to family and kids that are outdoors. ”
Johnson noticed a need to bring the fun to the people.
“I had this vision of having a mobile recreation unit so that we can provide more activities for people in our parks and throughout special events other people have in the community,” said Johnson.
This lead to a retired ambulance from Sherman-Fire Rescue getting a full makeover, swapping defibrillators and gurneys for chalk sticks and a gaga pit.

Johnson says the truck will soon be available to book for private events down the road.
