MILROY — The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday identified the man pronounced dead at the scene of a grain bin accident the day before.
Melvin Welu, 61, of Milroy, died after becoming trapped in a grain bin Wednesday morning in rural Milroy.
Emergency responders were notified around 9:33 a.m. Wednesday, July 16. Welu was found but pronounced dead around 11:19 a.m. Wednesday at the scene in the 13000 block of Minnesota Highway 19.
His funeral will be held Wednesday in Milroy, according to an obituary posted on the Horvath Funeral Service website.
This incident remains under investigation, according to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Milroy Fire and First Responders, Wabasso Ambulance, CentraCare Ambulance, the Wabasso Fire Department, Redwood Falls Fire Department, Vesta Fire Department, Tracy Fire Department, Marshall Fire Department, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
