M6 crash sees woman taken to hospital

The smash, between junctions 9 and 10, resulted in two lanes being closed for around an hour

A woman was taken to hospital after a crash on the M6 northbound.


The smash, between junctions 9 and 10, resulted in two lanes being closed for around an hour.


Medics were called to the scene just before 8am and treated the woman, who was driving one of the cars involved.


Her injuries were not believed to be serious but she was taken to Walsall's Manor Hospital for further assessment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "“We were called shortly before 8am to a road traffic collision on the M6 between junctions 9 and 10 in Pleck.

"One ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found a woman who was the driver of the first car.

"She was assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.


"She received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment.”

An alert on traffic monitoring site Inrix at 8.20am read: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M6 Northbound at J9 A461 Wood Green Road (Wednesbury)."

Around an hour later, a further update read: "Slow traffic due to earlier accident on M6 Northbound at J9 A461 Wood Green Road (Wednesbury).

"All lanes reopened, residual delays remain."
