More mountain roads closed in Cordillera due to Crising

BAGUIO CITY — More mountain roads in the Cordillera were closed Saturday, July 19, as Tropical Storm Crising dumped torrential rain across the highland region while exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Three key roads in Calanasan town, Apayao province, were shut down due to landslides and rising river waters, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways.
A soil collapse cut access to three sections of the Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road in the villages of Eva, Namaltugan, and Ninoy in Calanasan.
Along the Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road, erosion and a washed-out detour road at the site of the ongoing construction of the Annaran Bridge over the Madalagundug River were being cleared by work crews as of noon.
High river waters also inundated a detour road at another construction site in Calanasan — the Tanglagan Bridge over the Tanglagan River.
In Baguio City, Kennon Road remained closed Saturday due to intermittent rockslides, while some areas experienced power outages caused by fallen trees.
In Benguet province, work crews responded to a road slip along the Governor Bado Dangwa National Road in Kapangan town. /dm
